Halloween - The night of ghosts

All Hallow's evening or Halloween is a ritual basically celebrated in the foreign countries. Basically in the western countries. Its a Christian ritual of remembering the dead, the soul's, the hallows(the dead saints), martyrs the traditional focus of All Hallows' Eve revolves around the theme of using "humor and ridicule to confront the power of death.

Some Scholars say that this Halloween festival has flourished from the harvest festivals, where the farmers used to celebrate the first crop of the year by donating the pumpkins in the name of their beloed who passed away whereas the others say that this has just got up from the old Christian roots.

Nowadays Halloween has spread amongst various religion and races, and many kinds of people celebrate this ritual for fun.

A special tradition of Halloween is to cut a pumpkin into a special ghost like structure which is known as jack-o-lantern. Rather than that, to watch horror movies, go to costume parties, stay awake the whole night, visit haunted places, light up candles on the graves, play spooky pranks, tell ghost stories, light up homes with candles.

THE LAND IS SO BARREN AND THE PASSES SO HIGH THAT ONLY THE BEST OF FRIENDS AND FIERCEST OF ENEMIES COME BY.

The highest combat zone on planet earth, Siachen glacier is one place where fewer soldiers have died on the line duty due to enemy fire than because of the harsh weather conditions.
For Indian forces deployed in Siachen, it is less of a challenge to watch out for the frail Pakistani forces but to just stay atop this 76 kilometers long glacier at 5, 400 meters altitude (nearly twice the altitude of Ladakh and Kargil) in itself means you have to defy all of your physical, mental and spiritual limits.

In Siachen, you are at the risk of getting a deadly frostbite if your bare skin touches steel (gun trigger, for example) for just over fifteen seconds.

Merely touching the trigger or gun barrel with bare hands can be a mistake big enough to result in loss of toes or fingers.
Mountain climbers climb when the weather is at its best; soldiers serve in these treacherous terrains all year round.
Minus 60 degrees temperature and over 5,000 meters altitude; low atmospheric pressure and oxygen, well, you keep asking for more of it. There’s 10% of the amount of oxygen available in Siachen than it is in plains.
It’s the weather of the kind that us mortals aren’t simply designed to bear. Not for long and not without the great risk of losing eyes, hands or legs. But these men – they do it, every day.
Because every inch of this land belongs to India and they shall not cede it to some faggot neighbors who no longer have a higher ground in Siachen.
The human body just cannot acclimatize over 5,400 meters
When you stay at that altitude for long, you lose your weight, don’t feel like eating, sleep disorders come around in no time and memory less – that’s a common occurrence. Put simply, the body begins to deteriorate. That’s what happens at Siachen.
Speech blurring is as obvious as toothpaste freezing in the tube
It’s fiercer than heaviest of gunfire any day. But our soldiers have taken up the challenge nonetheless.
Snowstorms in Siachen can last 3 weeks.
Winds here can cross the 100 mph limit in no time. The temperature can drop well below minus 60 degrees.
Yearly snowfall in Siachen can be well over 3 dozen feet
When snow storms come around, at least two to three soldiers have to keep using shovels (in snow storm). Else, the military post would become a history; in no time.
Fresh food – that’s rare. Very rare. At Siachen, an orange or an apple can freeze to the hardness of a cricket ball in no time.
Rations come out of tin cans.

Army pilots literally push their helicopters well beyond their optimal performance, every day!
They drop supplies at forward posts located at an altitude of more than 20 thousand feet.

Army pilots usually have less than a minute for dropping off the supplies at forward posts.

In the last 30 years, 846 soldiers have sacrificed their lives at Siachen.
In case of Siachen, deaths due to extreme climate and beyond-imagination terrain conditions are treated as battle causalities and rightly so.

In last three years alone, 50 Indian soldiers have died in Siachen. These causalities as per the information made available by Defense Minister in Lok Sabha, were due to the very nature of the place our forces are serving. These soldiers sacrificed their lives on the line of duty while combating the floods, avalanches and floods in Siachen.

A dynasty of Tigers ruling Bandhavgarh forest (Madhya Pradesh)

Bandhavgarh has one of the highest density of Bengal tiger known in the world, and is home to some famous named individual tigers. Charger, an animal so named because of his habit of charging at elephants and tourists (whom he nonetheless did not harm), was the first healthy male known to be living in Bandhavgarh since the 1990s. A female known as Sita, who once appeared on the cover of National Geographic and is considered the most photographed tiger in the world was also to be found in Bandhavgarh for many years. Almost all the tigers of Bandhavgarh today are descendants of Sita and Charger. Their daughter Mohini, son Langru and B2 also maintained their tradition for frequent sighting and moving close to tourist jeeps.

Mohini, became prominent following Sita's death. She mated with Mahaman Tiger. She later died of her wounds from the vehicle accident.

Charger died in 2000 and his body was buried at Charger Point where he was kept in a closed region at his old age. Between 2003 and 2006, many of his descendants met with a series of unfortunate ends. B1 was eloctrocutedand B3 was killed by poachers. Sita was killed by poachers. Mohini died of serious wounds to her body. After the death of Charger, the fully grown B2 survived as the dominant male in the forest between 2004 and 2007. He also became the strongest tiger in the world. Mating with a female in the Siddhababa region of Bandhavgarh, he became a father of three cubs. One of them was a male. He was named Bamera. He was first sighted in 2008 and is now Bandhavgarh's dominant male. In November 2011, B2 died. Postmortem studies suggest that he died a natural death. But many other professional people, who know more than the officials, say that he was injured by the villagers of the village in the buffer area.

Now, the most prominent tiger in Tala zone of Bandhavgarh National Park is Bamera. However, off late he has been challenged on several occasions by a new male. Blue Eyes and Mukunda are the dominant males of Magdhi and Khitauli zone respectively. The females who are seen more frequently are Rajbehra, Mirchaini, Banbehi, Mahaman, Sukhi Pattiya and Damdama. There are a quite a few cubs also who are either in sub-adult stage or have entered the adulthood and are separate now.

Man who discovered Ebola says India should be cautious

We must be aware that there is the risk of Ebola cases in any country, as we have already seen some cases in Europe and the US. India has a huge population and urban centres are very densely packed, which could pose a challenge if any cases did arrive, as it makes it harder to isolate patients and trace their contacts for observation. Lack of adequate sanitation is also a problem in parts of the country. These elements could make containing Ebola cases more challenging than in some other countries. There are also many people from India who work in trade or industry in West Africa.
This is an opportunity for the
Indian health service to strengthen its infection control measures in all hospitals in preparation for any cases of Ebola arriving in the country. It is very important that proper hygiene practices are observed in all health facilities, and that healthcare workers are properly trained to protect against the spread of the disease if any cases did arrive in India.
The early symptoms of Ebola are similar to other diseases which are prevalent in India such as malaria and dengue. So it's particularly important to be vigilant and monitor people closely, and make sure the public are aware of the risks.
It does not mean that flights should be stopped from the affected countries in West Africa to other countries around the world. The current outbreak is already disrupting entire societies, and cutting off these countries from the rest of the world will only make the social and economic impacts worse. The virus is only contracted through very close contact - through bodily fluids - it is not airborne like other viruses such as the flu. We must continue to concentrate our efforts in tackling the outbreak in West Africa - this is the best way to ensure that the virus does not spread to other countries.
The international community was much too slow to respond to the outbreak. It's good that the UK and United States and some other countries are finally beginning to help. But other countries, especially in Europe, must do a lot more. And it should be clear to all of us: this isn't just an epidemic any more - this is a humanitarian catastrophe. We don't just need health care personnel on the ground in West Africa, but also logistics experts, trucks, jeeps and foodstuffs.

We will remain 6 days in darkness in December 2014

NASA has confirmed that the Earth will experience 6 days of almost complete darkness and will happen from the dates Tuesday the 16 – Monday the 22 in December. The world will remain, during these three days, without sunlight due to a solar storm, which will cause dust and space debris to become plentiful and thus, block 90% sunlight.
This is the head of NASA Charles Bolden who made the announcement and asked everyone to remain calm. This will be the product of a solar storm, the largest in the last 250 years for a period of 216 hours total.
Despite the six days of darkness soon to come, officials say that the earth will not experience any major problems, since six days of darkness is nowhere near enough to cause major damage to anything. “We will solely rely on artificial light for the six days, which is not a problem at all”, says NASA scientist Earl Godoy.
